Isla’s Stem Cell Treatment Begins!

An update from Simeon Duffy:

As some of you will know today I begin my first week of annual leave in quite some time. However, it’s a slightly different kind of holiday to what I am used to!

In January 2021 my Daughter, Isla, was born extremely prematurely and as a result of a seizure at birth is now living with cerebral palsy. The short of this means Isla cannot sit, crawl, walk or talk.

For the past 4 months, my family and I have been fundraising for Isla to receive her brothers stem cells taken at birth in cutting-edge stem cell treatment at Duke University Hospital, North Carolina; the Golbal researcher in this field.

Today marks the start of this treatment with tomorrow being the main infusion, before returning home to the UK on Friday.

We couldn’t have done this alone and are so grateful for all the support we’ve received. We truly are. There have been multiple fundraising efforts and donations by so many people; notably so the #giveaconeacuddle Initiative set up by Neil Levett which has allowed us to surpass our initial targets; your generosity in all of this has been amazing.

Our journey doesn’t end here – we will continue to fundraise for vital therapies for Isla when she returns to the UK and if you’d like to donate you can do so here –

For updates on Islas treatment please follow her Instagram page where we post regular updates on Islas progress and are documenting our time in the US –

Thanks again to every single donation, like, and share across all platforms – let’s raise the profile of the most common motor disability in children and push for more research into treatment options. Thank you so much for your support.
